Second of all, Google sees that you're being tweeted and shared so the algorithm knows that your website is popular and you're trying to create a brand which is beneficial for SEO.
The last reason is that social media sharing works like modern social bookmarking and creates high quality backlinks to your site. Take Twitter, Google+ or Facebook as an example.
